How To Maintain Calcium Levels In Body Post Thyroidectomy?
Question: i have been a CA thyroid pt, with total thyroidtemy surgey in 2004. Since then I am on Sandocal 500 tabs 5-4-5 = 14. Is there any modern better way for calcium management ?
Brief Answer:
calcium has to continue
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
It appears that your parathyroid glands were removed by the surgery. These glands secrete parathormone which ups the calcium. So taking calcium solves the problem.
We can also give parathormone injection but calcium supplements are much cheaper and simpler.
Hope I have answered your query. I will be available to answer further follow up queries, if any.
