Brief Answer:
OC pills also can help you

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

I have understood your concern.

Before I advise you, I shall try to explain you some physiology.

Usually, during menstrual cycle, there is gradual rise in the hormone Oestrogen in the first half of the cycle which brings about the growth of the uterine lining (endometrium). Then the egg release takes place after which along with the Oestrogen, Progesterone comes in which brings about the changes in the endometrium required for the implantation and nourishing of the fertilized egg. Their levels are increasing day by day.

If the pregnancy does not happen, then 10 days after the release of egg, both these hormones start dropping down. Thus the grown up endometrium now cannot be supported. This brings about the breaking of endometrium within 4 days and is thrown out with some amount of blood 14 days after the egg release. This is menstruation.

So if you do not have to have menstruation, you have to support endometrium to prevent from breaking down, by supplementing Oestrogen and/or Progesterone to the body.

Therefore at least 7 days before your expected menses, start any birth control pills. One pill a day is sufficient. Continue the pills till you do not want the menses to appear. Once all your rituals are over and you are ready for the menses, you may discontinue the pills and then within 4-7 days, you will get the menses.

These pills may cause some nausea, vomiting, heaviness in the breasts. So it is advisable that you take these pills at bedtime on full stomach. If you feel quite discomfort in the breasts, you may reduce salt intake to combat it. Do not worry, these changes are transient and will go away after you discontinue the pills.

Continuing these pills may give you birth control advantage also.

If you already late to start these pills, you may start even 4 days before the menses; however, you will have to take double the dose; i.e. two pills a day.

I am sure I have given you the required advice in a very simple language. I have specifically given you all this information in detail so that it will be useful for you in future while planning the pregnancy. If you are satisfied, you may please post a good review with 5 stars rating for me.

Thank you very much for your detailed response. It is indeed very helpful!
Can you recommend any name of a birth control pill I can use for postponing my menses?
Is it okay to take it for a week, medically? Since I have never taken a pill to postpone menses, I am a little concerned how it would react?

Brief Answer:
No problem in taking it

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

There are many birth control pills available in the market as well as Government Family Welfare centres. Since you are going to take it just for about a week, any product is good enough for you. From the Government Family Welfare centres, you can procure Mala D which will serve your purpose.

Taking 7 days at a stretch will not cause any problem apart from the minor side effects which I have mentioned in the previous communication. I would suggest you to continue it afterwards also as birth control measure.

I hope this serves your purpose. If you want any more information, I am always available for you XXXXXXX
