Question: I am a resident of middle east and travelling to germany in the month of december.

Are there any precautions that i can take to avoid catchinh cold/flu/fever

Yes, you both can take the vaccines.
Pneumococcal vaccine protect against 23 strains of pneumococci and coverage is for 5 years. So you have to repeat every 5 years.
Flu vaccine is against influenza virus, which is the most common cause for common cold. And this gives protection for 1 year. So it should be repeated annually.
