How To Remove Fish Bone Stuck In Throat?
Question: Hi,
Since past 3 days, a fish bone has stuck in my throat towards my left tonsil. I occasionally feel tremendous pain in swallowing and eating. Also since yesterday, have a tinging pain towards my left ear and tonsil. I have tried all natural remedies of swallowing semi-solid rice, banana, etc. but to no help. I feel the bone is quite small, hence has got badly stuck in my throat.
1. Would want to know if there are any easy means of removing the bone ?
2. What if it can never be removed and stays back in my throat, can it cause internal damage to my throat tissues ?

Hi, thanks for your query.
Fish bone in the throat is a painful condition. However I would first like to know whether or not the bone is truly stuck there. A physical examination with or without X-ray of neck / CT scan will help us detect it.
If its present, then there is no easy way to remove it. It has to be removed by a specialist either by naked eyes or by using scope.
Yes , fish bone in throat can't be neglected. It has to be removed. If it stats back then it can cause infection and sepsis.
90% fish bones are easily visible to naked eyes and can be easily removed.
If seen I will remove it per orally, not seen will do laryngoscopic examination and see it.
If still not seen, would recommend for an X ray neck or ct scan to detect if present.
If detected and present very much inside the throat then under anaesthesia I would remove it.
There is no Emperical treatment for this.
Please consult with your doctor and get tested. Do not neglect... earlier the better.
