How To Rule Out Chlamydia?
Question: i tested positive for chlamydia (swab test) a month ago and my partner and i were treated. we waiting 13 days before having sex again. after the encounter, i got a yeast infection and what i thought was a UTI. I took antibiotics (ciprofloxacin) but the symptoms did not go away. i was reading that one of the symptoms for chlamydia is painful urination. i have sharp pains in my bladder and urethra. i went to the doctor with my symptoms and was tested (urine test) for chlamydia and UTI. my results came back negative for both. i was relieved of course with the test results, but am still left with the uneasy feeling that maybe i got a false negative, due to my symptoms? could the antibiotic i was taking cause a false negative? also it was only about 30 minutes between my last urination and testing (i had been drinking a lot of water). could this somehow "dilute" the sample and cause a false negative?

+Did you and your partner undergo the treatment for chlamydia, or was it just one of you?
+Does your partner have any particular symptoms?
+Did your partner also get tested the second time you did? If so, what was his result?
+The antibiotic you were taking cannot cause a false-negative as you were not on that antibiotics while providing the urine sample for the last test, correct? Or were you on antibiotics when the sample was provided?
+You mentioned taking ciprofloxacin, for what you thought was UTI; was this prescribed to you, or did you self-medicate? And how long did you take it?

Yes we waited 13 days for intercourse.
He was treated, but was not retested.
I had an old prescription for the cipro, i took it Friday to Sunday and retested on Monday.

It was not medically accurate or correct to not get retested before involving in sexual relations once again. Some individuals require a longer duration of treatment as their infection is not adequately treated in the given duration of the course of treatment.
It was also inaccurate to get tested the second time whilst on the cipro, which could interfere with the results.
I do believe it will be best for both you and your partner to discuss symptoms, just so we know whether he is also experiencing any right now. Also, it would be wise for both of you to retest at your earliest convenience, without being on any medications so we can either completely rule out chlamydia and start treating either of you who has an infection; or confirm chlamydia and make sure you both receive adequate treatment and also retest once the course is complete to make sure the infection is ruled out ma'am.
If you were my patient in person, I would go about the above mentioned course of management. Do not worry ma'am, none of this is a big problem and if we follow the right steps towards management then you should be hail and healthy in no time.
