To strengthen his muscles, he needs to do Quadriceps and hamstring muscle exercises. Simple knee bending and straightening can be done while sitting on chair and hold the leg for few second's .This can be done easily anywhere like while watching Television or in office.
Exercise can increase his endurance and strengthen the muscles around joint, making joint more stable. Stick to gentle exercises, such as walking, biking or swimming.
Taking calcium and vit D supplements will be helpful.
