How To Treat Stains Causing Due To Hemorrhoids?
Question: I believe hemorrhoids are causing unavoidable fecal stains in underwear. How can this be treated?
Hi,
Thanks for the query.
First, make sure that stains you are having are actually due to hemorrhoids, which can be diagnosed by performing proctoscopy.
Next, there are three degrees of hemorrhoids that is 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree hemorrhoids.
The first-degree hemorrhoids often respond to medication like local anesthetic gel along with some antibiotic and local pressure applied often in the form of anal pack.
Then 2nd degree hemorrhoids are treated by banding and ligation and if they reoccur then they are treated as 3rd degree and the treatment is hemorrhoidectomy, which is performed under both general anesthesia and spinal anesthesia.
If you still have some query, feel free to ask.
Thanks

Thank you...
What is banding and ligation?
And is it considered painful?
And is hemorrhoidectomy an operation with stitches and all that have to be removed afterward?
And pain issues here?

Hi
Thanks for the reply
banding and ligation is a minor procedure in which a proctoscope (instrument used for anal examination) is applied and then a rubber band specially designed for hemorrhoids are applied at the bleeding site through a forceps which ligates the bleeder. There is very mild pain and the procedure carried out only with local xylocaine gel.
Hemorrhoidectomy is an operation in which the bleeder veins are ligated permanently by applying stitches. The procedure is carried out in anesthesia either general or spinal to avoid pain. After surgery an anal pack is placed which is a bit painful but it is removed after 24 hours and thereafter there is no significant or disturbing pain.
