Wash the wound under steady stream of water for 5 minutes

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

THanks for the question.

How deep is the laceration? What the length of the wound? Does it contain any dust ? Is it fresh cut?
I suggest you first clean the wound for 5 minutes under steady stream of water with the edges of the wound separated. It helps to flush away any impurities, dust and microbes lodged. Remember these actually delay healing and or cause infection of the wound. Now wash the wound with regular soap and clean with water. Use SOFRAMYCIN / METROGYL P any ointment available with you on a guaze / cotton piece and apply there. Leave it open if you stay home person. If you are a person who works going out of the home please apply ointment on guaze piece and tie with another guaze bandage. You may put Hansaplast / Dynaplast also. Use it twice to thrice a day till the scab forms.

If the laceration is more than half centimeter deep and longer than 2 inches it requires stitching after cleaning. Please visit a local doctor for sutures.
If the laceration is dirty it is better to get this cleaned at local clinic. THey do a better job than yourself.
