How To Wean Off Cymbalta?
Question: Hi I am on 30mg of cymbalta for nerve pain due to L4-L5 fusion. I have been on it for 6 weeks and have had diarrhea for 6 weeks. I am generally just sick of being sick the cure is worse than the disease I wanted to come off of it 2 weeks ago but my Dr discouraged coming off. Can I just stop taking it?
Brief Answer:
You should stop it gradually.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.
I have read your question and understand your concerns.
The decision to stop, or continue Cymbalta is yours.
If you decide to stop Cymbalta because of its side effects, or any other antineuralgic drug, you shouldn't stop it suddenly (cold turkey), you should stop it gradually (taper), because sudden stop can result in serious withdrawal symptoms.
I think, using Cymbalta for another two weeks at 15 mg/day it is necessary to avoid withdrawal symptoms.
It is necessary to discuss with your Doctor about alternative treatments for pain also.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Greetings.
You should stop it gradually.
