Is 250 Mg Of Valproate A Safe Dosage?
Question: I am currently on the medication valproate for partial seizures and I feel much better than before. The doctor has ask me to take(2) 250 mg dosage twice per day. I take have a slight headache to the left of my head but I do not have the dizziness. Is the 250 mg twice a day too much for me.

It is not too much, it is a very low dose.

I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.
That dosage though is not high at all. Actually it is the smallest possible dosage I would say.
Of course depends a little on the patients weight, but since the starting dosage for valproate is 10-15 mg/kg per day, unless you weigh under 40 kg it is the minimum possible dose, dosages can go as high as 60 mg/kg per day. So no need to be concerned about dosage.
