Is 30 Mg Of Valium A Safe Dosage?

Question: I,am 61 years old i have had server anxiety for 40 years I have been on valium for just as long I lost 2 sons and my wife in the past few years. I ,am taking 30mgs they no longer work my doctor wants me to increase to 40mgs long story short should i do this and is there any way after all this time I will ever hope to get of this drug.

Hello, and thanks for your question.

You are currently on a very, very high dose of Valium. This becomes dangerous in people over 60 because it leads to falls, fractures, and memory loss. I would not increase the dose. Instead, I would increase your antidepressant (Paxil) dose, or switch to a new antidepressant, as these more safely treat anxiety in the long run.

I believe it would be difficult to get off the valium do you agree,I,am taking 20mgs of paxil what do you think I should increase to I will speak to my doctor
