Brief Answer:
It has steroid and another medicine and approved for treatment over 5 years

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
AZEFLO nasal spray contains azelastine hydrochloride and fluticasone propionate. It is a combination of an antihistamine and a steroid.

Azelastine is antiallergic in function blocks histamine H1-receptor activity and inhibits release of inflammatory mediators from mast cells. It can be safely given in children above 5 years of age for 20 days.

Fluticasone propionate is a corticosteroid. It works by reducing inflammatory reactions in the nasal airway in response to allergens and irritants in the air. It can be safely given in children above 5 years of age for 20 days.

It is approved internationally to be used in the treatment of children above 5 years with rhinitis and for a short period at doses as recommended by doctor.

As it contains steroid in spray form, it will not cause significant side effects of steroids that is seen when oral steroids are taken. Please do not worry.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Is it a permanent cure or will it give a temporary relief. Now my doctor says I have to give azeflo for one month. He has also recommend montair LC for longer duration. I am also want to give seven seas capsule for enhancing immunity. Is it safe?

Brief Answer:
This is a temporary cure for symptoms

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

This is symptomatic cure and will not cure the condition permanently. Montair LC is a medication that will prevent the release of chemicals in blood which cause symptoms. This is a safe medication for long term use but needs to be reviewed by the doctor regularly.

The cause of rhinitis has to be known before a permanent cure is offered. Your child is still growing and the best you can do is teach him to protect himself from allergy causing substances like dust pollution and pollen. This does not mean he cannot enjoy his childhood. It is to say that it is better for him to avoid areas where there is more dust and allergy causing substances which if comes in contact with his nose, will cause release of chemicals leading to running nose and sneezing. Many children improve with time and once he is a young adult his symptoms will improve by itself.

Allergy testing can be done but again it is not a 100 percent sure test.

You can give him seven seas capsule in child dose.

Hope your query is answered.
