My BP is 130/85 this morning, which is much lower than last night when it was 145/90 I was prescribed propanolol in March 10mg twice a day....also on Nardil 15 mg twice a day
P& 20 mg atorvastatin at night. I feel fine, & lead a full life, but am not pleased with being prescribed a drug without proper b/p checks at the surgery when the readings fluctuate so much... I've come to dread the bp monitor I have here to monitor myself!!

Brief Answer:
I do not think medications are first choice
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks for follow up.
In my opinion following things should be done in your case.
1. Continuous BP monitoring for 24 hour. This can be done by a simple portable device otherwise known as ambulatory BP monitor. This will give 24 hour data for interpretation and for necessary action.
2. Life style modication- As you might be knowing the first step in high blood pressure control is regular physical exercise and low intake of sodium and fatty foods. Considering your age and BP recordings I feel this should be the first choice for your BP management. This strategy not only helps in controlling high blood pressure it also prevents occurrence of high blood pressure for many individuals.
I completely agree that medications should be considered after proper monitoring and should not be the first choice.
I hope this helps you.
Feel free to write back to me if you have more questions.
Thanks and regards.
