Hi,
Nardil contains
phenelzine that belongs to the group of
antidepressant medications known as
monoamine oxidase inhibitors or MAOIs is used in the treatment of depression, panic attacks etc. Just like other medication, this medication has some side effects of its own. Again, sometimes increasing the dose of this medication may initiate or aggravate some side effects.
It may cause tingling or numbness of the hands or feet, swollen hands, legs or ankles, trembling or shaking of the hands or feet, dizziness, drowsiness, tiredness, weakness, sleeping disturbances,
constipation, dry mouth, changes in appetite, weight gain, allergic reactions and many more. Usually most of these side effects are mild as well as self limiting and go away over time as the body adjusts to this medication. In case these side effects persist for long, then you should consult your doctor immediately for
medical help.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Zubayer Alam, General And Family Physician
