Is BP Value Of 144/100 A Cause For Concern?

default
Posted on Sat, 25 Jun 2016
Question: My body reading was just 144/100. I took 10mg of prescribed Bystolic this morning. I realized I have a really bad headache this afternoon and decided to check it via auscultation. I am a firefighter and had 2 large fires last night and then again at 0500 this morning. I am not feeling dehydrated enough to cause any issues. The diastolic is what concerned me most. I took an extra 5mg of Bystolic just now. What are some simple interventions that I can perform at home? I do have access to O2 if needed.

Brief Answer:
It's due to large fires you had, take more rest&following

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your concern.

Your blood pressure (BP) reading is indicating that your BP is slightly elevated but not at the point to be worried.

To my opinion, it is due to large fires you had.

Take more rest, keep well hydrated. Prepare lemon juice at home and drink it. Avoid taking salty foods, caffeine and alcohol.

After being completely relaxed, measure BP again. I am sure it will result normal.
