Is Ciprofloxacin Advisable While On Amiodarone?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: My mother is 92 years old and has had an Aortic valve replaced and is therefore on Amiodarone. She is diagnosed with an infection that requires here to take ciprofloxacin. But there are cautions against taking this antibiotic if the patient is taking Amiodarone. We are going to take her, as her doctor suggested, to the emergency room for an intravenous drip of Ciprofloxacin and hopefully convince the E.R. doctor to also put her on a heart monitor. We have been told that there are no safer alternatives to this particular medication for her infection, which I believe is a vaginal infection. Does this course of treatment make sense?
