Is Combiflam Effective In Managing Severe Knee Pain?

Question: My mother is suffering from knee pain severely as well as from Osteoartheritis. As she is an aged lady (82 yrs) with defective heart valve issue, knee replacement is very risky.
As now she is not able to even go bathroom for daily normal functions, can I give her Cobiflame 500mg,if yes, at what frequency so that it do not adversely affect her health and also she do not suffer fom pain.

Brief Answer:
Nsaids for pain
Detailed Answer:
hi
yes it is possible to give her combiflam
it can be given 2 or 3 in a day.
However it is an nsaid.
These medicines are not entirely safe if taken on a long term.
It would be better to control her pain with paracetamol which can be taken as a 650 mg tab twice or thrice daily.
another option is to give her an intra articular injection with cortisone.
which can be given every 3 to 4 months.

Actually yesterday night she fell down in the bathroom.Anyhow we brought her to the bed and gave the pain killer tab. Now we doubt that there may be a fracture as she is continuously complaining for the pain in her thigh (RHS).
As it is difficult to move for her, how should we take her to the doctor for any further treatment/ examination.
As per DXA result summary her T score was -5.7 and z score was -2.4.
Please suggest the next course.
Shoud us go to Orthopedic surgeon or Rheumatologist?

Brief Answer:
look for swelling in the leg
Detailed Answer:
I suggest you continue with the NSAID, hot fomentation, pain releiving gel like volini.
give her rest.
if there is no swelling in the area in the next few days it is unlikely to be a fracture.
however her reports suggest severe osteoporosis, so she is highly likely to have fractures if she falls.
she should be on full dose of calcium, vitamin pouch 60 k one every week, and medication for osteoporosis, preferably teriparatide s/c.
so I suggest wait for 24 hrs, if there is swelling she needs to get an xray.
you can consult either of the doctors.
regards
