Is Domstal Or Graniforce Better For Vomiting In Children?
Brief Answer:
Its better to give domstal
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for posting your query in healthcaremagic.com
This is Dr. Swarnava dattagupta answering your query.
I understand your concern.
Domstal contains domperidone and graniforce contains granisetron. Both are good anti-emetic or anti-vomiting drugs. But granisetron is better to be avoided in infants. Some guidelines advise to avoid granisetron in infancy due to side effects whereas domperidone is not contraindicated and can be safely taken. So my suggestion will be to give domstal.
Also continue breast feeding alongwith the medication.
Hope i have answered your question.
If you have any further questions i will be happy to help.
Regards

How much dosage of domstal?
And what is the pecaution should i take?
And what is the pecaution should i take?
Brief Answer:
Follow as advised
Detailed Answer:
Hello again.
If you are giving domstal drops or suspension, 10-15 drops thrice daily should be enough. And if syrup is given, the dose is 0.5mg/kg considering 1ml of syrup contains 1 mg of domperidone. The weight of the baby should be known and thus the dosage is to be calculated. It can also be taken thrice daily.
But you should talk to your pediatrician or treating doctor for dosage as dosage adjustment might have to be made depending upon the condition, age and body weight of the baby.
No specific precaution has to be taken. But you should take the baby to hospital or doctor's clinic if there is no improvement in spite of the drugs.
Regards.
