What Causes Headache And Vomiting When Diagnosed With Neurocysticercosis?

default
Posted on Tue, 25 Oct 2016
Question: I suffered from neurocysticercosis in 1993. I used to have severe headache with my seizure attacks. But that time doctors said that it will go with time. But it didn’t and gradually the headache increased in terms of severity. Towards the end of 1998, with severe headache, I started vomiting also. The nausea of 24 hours and everyday of vomiting started in 1998. In 2001 the MRI revealed that I was suffering from Mild Ischemia of Brain, and doctor said that this is why I was suffering from vomiting and headaches. He told that it is a condition called migraine and in a year it will get cured. He gave me Ridazine 10. But my headache and vomiting didn’t improve. He gave me tryptomer but it also didn’t help. After a year I was still having headaches with throbbing and vomiting. When I told him about my situation he said that he couldn’t do much with my condition and I would have to suffer with my vomiting and headaches.

I consulted different doctor who said that it is not a very major condition and gave me tablet of sodium valproate. This medicine again didn’t have any effect on my migraines and vomitings. Disappointed with allopathic medicines I moved towards homoeopathy.

It controlled headache up to some extent but nausea and vomiting remained out of control.

Then in 2015 I got myself seen by a different doctor who gave me Provanol Plus 5. With this medicine my headache and throbbing seems to have improved by 90% but my vomiting is still there. I feel nausea every day and vomit everyday too.

I am really fed up with my vomitings, for last 17 years or so I am feeling nauseous every day. Is there any medicine to treat my condition?

I am taking ondem tablet to control my vomiting but despite the medicine I vomit everyday.

Please help!

Brief Answer:
Take treatment as advised and follow precautions regularly

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Neurocysticercosis doesn't lead to prolonged headache as most lesions resolve or calcify with time.
Headache most likely is chronic migraine with stress factors.
The treatment requires preventive steps.
Take timely breakfast and lunch.
Avoid fasting, excessive tea or coffee, chocolate.
Migraine prophylaxis drugs like Flunarizine, propranolol Topiramate, Valproate or amitryptiline can be used in combination and dosage increased according to response.
In my patients I prefer Sibelium 10 mg and amitryptiline 25 mg once daily at night.
Avoid taking regular pain killers as it may lead to medication overuse headache.
Nausea and vomiting may be part of migraine or acid peptic disease.
You need to get endoscopic examination to rule out any ulcers.
Upload any reports if available.

Dear Sir,

I got endoscopy done of 3rd of september 2016 and the report says 'mild gastritis'.
the gastro expert says that the mild gastritis can't cause severe nausea that i suffer so asked me to consult a neurologist.

I don't drink tea or coffee or have chocolate.

Actually, sir the doctor who was treating me is out of country so i can not contact him. So, if you could please tell me what medicine to use to stop my VOMITING. My headaches are under control with provanol plus 5.
