As of today i havnt got another period, i know its early, but i have now been advised to take duphaston from 30th march if no period arrives, and start ovacare from day one of cycle for a month. my questions are: 1.are these necessary tabs? 2. what are my chances of a repeat abnormality case. double marker tests were done and results were very good. was told not to worry about that at all. thankyou in advance.

Brief Answer: FOLLOW THE ADVICES. Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for writing to us. Followings are my comments: 1) First of all, I suggest you to undergo one home pregnancy test (if not done) to rule out pregnancy. Blood beta-hCG test is more reliable in early pregnancy. If pregnancy test is negative and you don't get your period within this week, then you should take above prescribed medicine. DUPHASTON (Dydrogesterone) is progesterone supplement and OVACARE is micro nutrient/ vitamin supplement. These are quite helpful to induce and regularize your monthly period cycle. You can try to conceive while taking these medications. In addition, you would take healthy diet with FOLIC acid supplements for at least 3 months, avoid mental stress/ upset by regular meditation, drink more water and take sound sleep. These will help to induce period naturally. 2) Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) is a relatively common complex congenital heart defect (around 8%). The risk of structural heart disease is significantly higher in twin pregnancies than in singleton pregnancies. Several study shows that repetition of congenital heart disease in consecutive pregnancy is around 2% and screening test is MANDATORY in early pregnancy for high risk patient. Hope, I have answered your query. Kindly, close the discussion if you don't have any other query. Wish your good health and take care yourself. Brief Answer: REPEAT BLOOD BETA-hCG TEST AFTER 7 DAYS. Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for follow up query. 1) You can continue Duphaston whether you are pregnant or not. It doesn't cause any harmful effect in early pregnancy (if detected). 2) I suggest to repeat blood beta-hCG test after 7 days (i.e on 31st March) to detect LATE conception (as you get positive result on OPK) and it will be helpful for you. Sometimes, early test is less significant. Hope, it helps for you. Kindly, close the discussion. All the best and good luck. Regards, Dr Soumen
