Is FSH Of 4.2 Normal?
I got married in July 2012 and we decided we wanted to try for a baby. We have never been consistent with intercourse for about 3 months and I am the Clearblue Fertility Monitor. I thought I was not ovulating hence I bought the fertility monitor. This does show that I am ovulating (I think).
I really want to conceive naturally, do you really see this can happen for us? I am overweight but have lost 2 stone, currently weighing 16 stone 7 pounds, so currently still overweight but still trying to lose more weight. My husband has cut down from 30 cigarettes a day to 10 cigarettes and drinks within the alcoholic guidelines (lager or bitter) other than a Saturday.
I have seen a Gynaecologist who sees no problems in me conceiving and says I have a good egg reserve for my age. I have attached some reports to help you answer my questions. My Gynaecologist says I do not have PCO as my blood work is all good. My own GP is also not concerned. I am going to bed every night crying thinking I will never conceive naturally.
Please don’t ask my partner to have a semen analysis done as he doesn’t want this and says if it is meant to be it will happen naturally. Can I have an infertility check to see if I am in working order without my husband attending?
I usually have a regular bleeding pattern 24-28 day cycles. Never have pain or any kind of problem. I have attached my bleeding chart. This cycle I spotted on day 13 and 14, Clearblue fertility monitor went to 3 bars on day 17 and 18, but my cycle has been unusually long to 34 days, where I am on average 27 days. Is there something wrong with me or am I panicking too much? All I want is to get pregnant naturally, with no intervention is this possible?
At the end of the day all I want is to be a MUM, do you please see this possible my reports and see it can happen naturally?
I can’t afford anything privately it will have to be on NHS my own GP won’t refer me as he thinks I am panicking over nothing.
1. Is my FSH on day 3 of 4.2 normal?
2. Do you agree the fertility monitor is a good diagnosis for ovulating?
3. Do you see I can conceive naturally?
4. Can I have a infertility check for myself and if so how do I go about this?
5. Any suggestions please to help me achieve what I really want.
6. Am I stressing out too much?
If Clearblue fertility monitor shows 3 bars do I:
1. Ovulate
2. Release an egg
3. Should I conceive naturally
Everyone seems to be getting pregnant at the drop of the hat and poor me is still here trying. I want a baby so much.
Do you see I have PCO or do you see all be fine.
Another thing that confuses me is Fertility Monitor shows Ovulation, but Ovulation strips do not. I think I am getting myself into a Frenzy and should just use the Fertility Monitor and forget ovulation test strips. What are your thoughts please?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
I have gone through all your reports in detail.
1. Is my FSH on day 3 of 4.2 normal?
Yes , less than 9 is normal.
2. Do you agree the fertility monitor is a good diagnosis for ovulating?
Yes , I do
3. Do you see I can conceive naturally?
Yes you can
4. Can I have a infertility check for myself and if so how do I go about this?
Yes, you can. You can get LH, TSH , HSG and AMH tests done and serial follicular studies done.
5. Any suggestions please to help me achieve what I really want.
If you are overweight , then weight loss will help. Quit smoking if you do so.
6. Am I stressing out too much?
Yes, maybe.
If Clearblue fertility monitor shows 3 bars do I:
1. Ovulate
2. Release an egg
3. Should I conceive naturally
You ovulate, which means releasing an egg and it is time for you to try to conceive naturally.
All three mean the same.

Dr. Som Biswas M.D.
hi
Detailed Answer:
Smoking is a major cause of infertility.
He has to stop smoking completely, at least till you get pregnant.
That is for sure.
Hi
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Do not loose hope.
How much is he smoking per day now?
Dear XXXXXXX
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
20 is still a very high number.
He has to cut it down further, ideally nil , but still 2-3 is OK.
But 20 definitely is a high number.
Have you ever taken him to a rehab for tobacco addicts.
Has he ever tried " nicotine patch" ?
Do you see if I have pco or not?
Hi
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
15 per day is also a very high number.
Your sonography is suggestive of PCOD.
But it is only suggestive.
We need to confirm it.
Do you have irregular bleed or heavy menses frequently ?
Have you got Testosterone and insulin levels done?
I have periods usually 27 day cycles but this one was 34 day cycle for some reason. I have no symptoms of any kind other than my chin seems to get hair on it.
Even though husband smokes and cuts down I still do have a chance and not to give up hope?
Hi
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
If rest of all your blood work is fine then you do not have PCOD.
NO, If your husband keeps smoking 15 cigarettes per day , i DO NOT think you have much of a chance to conceive NATURALLY. You can try artificial methods.
Why don't you get his semen tested and let me know the results.
Thanks for your help I will just have to leave it
Why years ago like my grandad smoked cigarettes like a chimney never be affected because all the old men drank and smoked. I am just giving up and residing myself I will never have children
Do not loose hope
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
It is not that you will never conceive.
YES smokers do conceive and have kids.
But all i am saying is since you are trying hard, we should try to improve all aspects.
Can you tell me how many times you people have sex in a week and are both of you on any other medicines.
Do you people exercise ?
Let me see if i can improve some other things in your lifestyle to increase chances.
Husband on no medication. I on ventolin seretide and folic acid. Is there any natural medicines to increase husband's sperm count
Good
Detailed Answer:
Good,
Walking and sex 2-3 times per week is good but you can try for 4 times a week.
Increases the chances.
Clomiphene increases sperm count but it is not a natural medicine.
Getting plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes can help boost fertility and sperm count.
For men, the most important supplemental nutrients to enhance fertility are vitamin C and zinc.
