Is HIV 4th Generation Test Done Three Weeks After Exposure Conclusive?
Question: I've had a sore throat for two weeks now. also had cold like symptoms (runny nose, fatigue for two days, nasal congestion, post nasal drip and a productive cough.). a week of those two weeks. Went to the doctor, three days ago and he noted exudate on my tonsils, inflammation and diagnosed me with viral infection. he gave me a shot to boost my immune system, some cough and decongestant medicine and medicine to numb my throat. I had an unprotected sexual encounter three weeks ago and tested negative at 21 days on fourth generation. I test again at the fourth week and 12 weeks. my rapid mono was negative. I thought I was getting better yesterday, but seems like its not any better today. How long should I wait to go back to the doctor and what could I be struggling with.
Brief Answer:
Chronic tonsillitis
Detailed Answer:
Hi
You seem to have chronic tonsillitis
I would consider antibiotic for atleast a week. If it recurs, get throat swab from tonsillitis done for culture and sensitivity. That will guide you further.
