I took a rapid standard antibody blood test which was negative at 37 days, also an HIV RNA QL test at 44 days which was also negative. Is there any need for further testing?
Brief Answer:
depends on the exposure. kindly describe in brief about exposire
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for following up.
Usually 2 negative tests with the duration of test you mentioned are quite confirmatory about no infection.
But to know better and guide well I would like to know the nature of exposure. If you could give some details about it, that will help me to advice you better.
Awaiting your answers.
Thank you

It was unprotected vaginal sex. also she said she gets checked every 6 months, and that she had a papsmear in april with all std's tested, and all negative, but who can be sure.
Brief Answer:
you seem to be safe. but repeat after 3 months of exposure
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for following up and answering my question.
With the description you seem to be safe from infection. But we need that mental satisfaction to be sure.
Usually HIV window period is taken as 3 months by average. Any negative test after that period is 100% confirmatory of no infection.
So by overall picture it looks that you do not have any danger of infection but just to be 100% sure I will advice you to repeat HIV RNA qualitative test after 12 weeks (3 months) from exposure.
If that is negative then no further testings are required or no need to be worried of it further.
I hope I have answered your query well.
If you have any questions kindly ask me back.
Thank you
