Question: Dear doctor,
Im a straight man living in london.
I had protected oral and V sex with two escorts in early october ( 1-3 ).
I took a rapid hiv test at 4 weeks which came back negative, then i went to my gp and they sent my blood to lab at 8 weeks which again came back negative. I forgot about but in january three months later i had bad flu, then in april i had joint and muscle pains and dry mouth which made me extreemly anxious. I took biosure a self test kit and it was negative ( almost 8 months later). It was a good relife but i went to a private clinic and took an instant test which was again negative then there i did a DUO test and next day test came back negative.
I was so relieved but i thougt it may be a private clinic and the resut may not be legit so i went to a NHS funded sexual health clinic and did a full std screening, everything came back megative. HIV test was Duo.
I was so happy and even my mouth dryness was gone but today after 5 days again my mouth is dry and it makes me nervous that what if these test didnt pick it up or what if in these clinics i went last week they used a contaminated needle to take my blood and intentionaly or by mistake passed the virus to me. Please help me, what shall i do?

Brief Answer:
You are free from HIV/STD.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
You had protected Vaginal sex and oral sex.
All your tests repeatedly confirmed that you are free from HIV and STD. Especially tests done 12 weeks after the exposure in sex clinic have ruled out the possibility of HIV 1 and 2 infection and STDs beyond any doubt. All your symptoms like fever and joint pain and muscle pain can occur to anybody at anytime and not necessarily due to HIV or STD. Dry mouth could be due to your anxiety. Otherwise it could be due to some other conditions which your physician has to find with examination and investigations. Not to worry about HIV infection and STD.

Brief Answer:
Your symptoms are not related to HIV.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
WELCOME BACK.
Nowadays everywhere only disposable (onetime used syringes and needles) needles are being used in almost all developed and developing countries of the world in all the hospitals and also in medical laboratories. Especially in a country like United Kingdom and especially with the NHS hospitals and labs, the possibility of reused syringes or needles is totally nil. So just forget about these odd possibilities.
Your symptoms are not related to HIV.
