Is HIV Transmission Possible After Protected Sex?

default
Posted on Wed, 10 Sep 2014
Question: I did something very stupid. I got heavily drunk and I ended up visiting a sex worker at a massage parlor. The parlor wasn't cheap, around 300 dollars total (not sure if this make any difference though).

The actual sex act lasted around 10 minutes. The entire duration of the act was using a latex condom provided by the sex worker. The sex included vaginal sex with condom, brief oral sex with condom, and some kissing. The sex worker VERY carefully removed condom after sex.

One thing that worries me more is that I popped my pimple on my penis the day before the sexual encounter, which could be considered "open" sore. The pimple is of moderate size (not too big nor small). The pimple was located between midway of the penis head and the base. It should have been covered by condom but I am worried that the condom might have slightly unrolled itself during sex, which is what worries me. It also started bleeding the day after sex, which is what freaks me out.

The worker herself was very cautious during sex, and was not willing to do many stuff. Is this a good indication that she is not likely to be infected?

This is my first time I have ever done something like this, and I am filled with guilt and anxiety.

Are my HIV chances high? How about other STDs? I have checked for HIV a month ago, and it was negative during my last check.

Should I visit hospital for PEP prescription?

Brief Answer:
HIV after 3mth, STD test if symptoma develop.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query on HealthcareMagic.

It is not possible to comment whether the condom covered the open sore or not or the sex worker was infected or not.
However, it is good that you got a HIV test done.
You can get another HIV test after 2 months (i.e. 3 months after sexual contact) since, HIV test can be negative after sexual contact and remains negative for 3 months if in window period.
You need not take any medication in the meanwhile.
However, if you develop any of the following symptoms, get tests for STD immediately,
Discharge from penis,
Lymph node enlargement or lump on external genitalia,
Ulcer- painful or painless,
Vesicles (fluid filled lesions) on external genitalia.

Practice safe sex always.

Thanks and take care

Regarding my chances of contracting STD, especially HIV, is it high? I am scared to death, and I would like to assess how worried I should be.

Brief Answer:
Chances low , tests are preventive.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome again.
The chances of HIV are low since, you used a condom.
The chances of contracting infection is high from penile head, however, since there was a open sore, HIV testing is warranted.
However, do not panic.
The tests are preventive and performing them does not mean that you are suffering from the infection.

Do not worry since chances are very low.

Thanks and take care

Brief Answer:
Chance of STD low.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome again,
The risk of contracting any other STD is also low because you were using barrier method of contraception.
Test has to be done only if any symptom is present.
Ths precaution has to be taken since, there was presence of an open wound.

Thanks and take care
