Is HIV Transmission Possible Thorough Touch?

default
Posted on Mon, 10 Nov 2014
Question: Yesterday I went to a strip club where I got a series of lap dances from a stripper. During the dance age touched her bare vagina and shortly thereafter put her hands into my pants and directly touched my penis. When I got home I noticed that I had an abrasion under the glans of my penis. Am I at risk for HIV or other stds with this exposure? I'm worried her secretions may have come in contact with this abrasion.

Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic

I am Dr. Kakkar. I have gone through your query.

I don't think you have anything to worry. However, I would want to know a little more from you.

-How old was the abrasion?Did you bleed from it?Or was it just a superficial scratch?

HIV should have direct access to the blood stream, through an "Open Wound". An open wound is a cut which is freshly made and freshly actively bleeding. It does have to be fresh and open and bleeding for the virus to gain access into the blood stream. Once a scab forms (usually within a few hours), this would no longer give access to the bloodstream, preventing HIV from entering.

It is unlikely that you would have got HIV or any other STD from this particular exposure

thank you dr. kakkar. this was a superficial scratch/irritation from the friction of the lap dance itself, so it was new. It was not actively bleeding at all. should i be worried about stds here?

Brief Answer:
You are safe

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Thank you for clarifying.
As I have told you, a superficial scratch wound not allow HIV to enter into bloodstream.
For HIV to enter, it had to be a freshly bleeding cut or abrasion.

You need not worry about this incident.
