Is Huperzine A The Same As Huperzina Serrate?
Question: 1. Are huperzine A and huperzina serrate the same.
2. I take cur curcumin , would like to take ginkgo but because I know both are blood thinners I am concerned about taking both. With respect to memory and brain functioning, are they substitutes for each other. I was told cur curcumin is the East XXXXXXX version of the oriental ginkgo. Is this true?

I have gone through your query and being your physician I completely understand your health concerns.
In response to your query , huperzine A and huperzina serrate are one and the same thing with same function. But I doubt their clinical significance since I failed to find any credible data over it. Also these are not yet approved by FDA
Crucumin and gingko , on the other hand also have got same problem. There are some studies which are favoring the role of gingko in dementia.
As far as blood thinning is concerned, these effects are not scientifically proven and yet to be determined.
As far as substitutes to each other are concerned, gingko has some effect according to some studies. They can't be substituted in this regard.
But I still question the efficacy of these as they haven't been approved by FDA....
