Is MMR Vaccination Recommended Despite Having Rubella Vaccination Years Ago?
Brief Answer:
probably not
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for your question.
MMR stands for measles, mumps and rubella. If you had the full set of MMR vaccinations then you probably do not need to be re-vaccinated. If you are unsure you can ask your doctor to run titers for measles and mumps as they did for the rubella.
If you had sufficient rubella titer then you are probably protected against all three, but it never hurts to get the testing to be certain, especially if you are not sure that you had a full set of MMR vaccinations.
