Is Ozone Therapy FDA Approved?
Minimal Invasive procedures are better than Ozone therapy in credibility
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.
It takes 4-6 hours of day care hospitalizations. Ozone Nucleosis is not approved by FDA (USA). Intradiscal ozone has not found any evidence even in the well conducted studies.
In cases where one wants to avoid surgery, the only Minimally Invasive Procedures of good results are nucleoplasty & biacuplasty, as they ablate the painful discal nerve endings as well.
The biggest reason for poor results with ozone had been its indiscriminate usage without proper patient selection. Ozone could be useful at the most in contained discs with minimal bulge with intact nucleus and that too not intradiscally but transforaminally.
Overall ozone can not be suggested for disc prolapse. Ozone neucleolysis works much better when disc is not dessicated and patient's age below 45 years. You will need transforaminal long acting steroid along with intradiscal Ozone.
I hope this answered your query.
With regards,
