Is Pregabalin Or Gabapentin Best For A Herniated Disc?

default
Posted on Mon, 11 Jul 2016
Question: I have nerve pain from a pinched nerve in my lumbar back. Which drug is less damaging to take? Lyrica or gabapentin? I am taking gabapentin and feel hung-over for at least the morning each night that I take it. I only take it in the evening (100 mg). Lyrica has been prescribed at 50mg as an alternative.

Hello and welcome

I appreciate your concern

Based on your description, both pregabalin and gabapentin are good options in this regard. The 100 mg dose is low for gabapentin. If at 100 mg it's giving you side effects which are hard to tolerate then pregabalin would be a better and safer option.

wishing you best of health
