Is STD Test Done 11 Days After Exposure Conclusive?

default
Posted on Fri, 25 Nov 2016
Question: Thank You Dr XXXXXXX My worry is that the test was done just 11 days after exposure. would the parameters eg WBC and Pus cells cells be high so soon.. Also the whole fingering episode felt a little sinister. Also i have IBS from the last 15 years so i seldom have formed stools.. the whole episode was very painful.. My penis does feel fine.. but its a little sensitive.. not sure if its in my mind thinking about.

thanking you again

Brief Answer:
Urine examination will reveal infection as soon as the symptoms started

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome once again to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
Urinary symptoms following any STD, and the reflections in urine (As Pus cells or RBCs), can occur within 5-7 days or as soon as you had the urinary symptoms with some other delayed type of urethritis. Blood examination and antibody detection in the blood may take its own time to appear in the blood as per the different type of organisms and not with urine examination.
As you had the history of IBS already, any symptoms pertained to your bowl is irrelevant to this incident. Unlikely be due to fingering into anus.
Less sensitive penis is of course due to your feeling of depression due to fear of STD/HIV following the incident which is absolutely baseless. You will be alright soon.

Brief Answer:
You are most welcome

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
Fingering into anus is not at all a high risk activity for HIV /STD. So your anxiety has no base. Anyhow I am happy with the negative HIV P 24 Antigen and RNA PCR results. Relax and enjoy your days ahead.
