Question: Recently got to know that my husband has hypothyroidism with TSH value 5.5 but till now medication not started
we are planning for baby... we did semen analysis it states motility 40% and high viscosity (>1hr), count and morphology are good
Does hypothyroidism affect sperm quality

TSH value 5.5 is borderline hypothyroidism and needs no treatment until you recheck and confirm this.

Start treatment only if repeat value is high.

This value is unlikely to have affected his sperms.

I suggest let him get semen culture and sensitivity test done to identify the organism causing infection. Semen infection is common cause of delay in liquefaction and increased viscosity.
