Is Viagra Advisable For A Patient With High BP?
Question: I am 38 year and have undergone ballooning for Mitral Stenosis on November 2011. Since then I have been taking Ecosprin 150 and Seloken XL 25 every night after dinner. Normally my BP remains 110/70 but for last few days it remain below 100/70 but I do not feel any problem as such unless checked for BP. I do not get erection easily and even if I get it, I do not get it hard enough for intercourse. Should I take Viagra?

Hello Doctor,
Is this the treatment or just a solution for each time I think of having intercourse.
If this is not a treatment, could you kindly suggest the treatment for the problem instead of instant solution.
Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Permanent cure is nearly impossible
Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir
I can certainly understand your concern.
The Erectile dysfunction in your case is probably secondary to the vascular pathology elsewhere in your body( valluvar heart disease ie Mitral stenosis).
Long-term changes in blood vessels will cause this issue the blood flow to penis.
I suggested the temporary/ instant solution to your issue.By far this is the best measure one can ever advise you.
There is no permanent solution or cure to Erectile dysfunction secondary to long term heart disease.
But in few selective centers intracavernosal implants can be placed to significantly improve symptoms of ED.
This can be considered as a near total permanent solution, although it is associated with significant effects in the long-term.
To conclude, medical management with Alprostadil is the safe and an effective way to treat your ED.
