Is Zinnat The Same As Augmentin?

default
Posted on Thu, 7 Sep 2017
Question: Hi. I have a toe infection and apparently the antibiotic cream did very little so my doctor prescribed Zinnat for 5 day(1 every 12 h). I am a bit paranoiac and scared of allergic reactions. I think it took it in the past, but i don't remember exactly. I did take Augmentin and Penicillin derivatives. Are they connected, should i be worried?

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Zinnat is different fron augmentin.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I am Dr Gopal Goel Orthopedic Surgeon.
Zinnat is different antibiotic than Augmentin or penicillin derivative.
Any medicine can have side effects or allergic reactions. There is no method to know as to which one will react adversely. So best is to take one dose in the morning and if there is no reaction then continue with rest of dosage.
