Is A 20 Week HBV And HCV Test Result Conclusive?
Question: is a 20 Week HBV & HCV negatove result conclusive?
Brief Answer:
Yes it is very much conclusive
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic,
The Incubation periods of Hepatitis B is 1 to 6 months and Hepatitis C is 6 to 8 weeks. As you are negative for Hepatitis B and C antibodies at the end of 20 weeks which is evident that you are not having Hepatitis B and C.
Usually antibodies should be detectable by 6 weeks of possible risk exposure, as it is negative you are free from Hepatitis B and C.
Thank you.

Thank you doc for your answer.
However I have few more questions to ask. Sorry for that, but it is just out of my anxiety.
During week 20 along with my Tests for HBV & HCV i did a blood tests as well. I am attaching the report for that test result along with this for your kind reference. The report is in Hungarian Language, however i have translated a few words for your better understanding.
Now my question can these results prolong the incubation period of HBV, HCV & HIV?
I have done multiple tests till WK 20, an overview of them are as follows:
I had protected vaginal sex with a lady (dont know if condom broke), and a unprotected oral sex (i was receiving). I live in Eastern Europe (Hungary). Since then I have got this fear whether i have caught any STI's. So I have done some tests, the results and tests are as follows:
1. HIV Combo Test (HIV-1,2 Antibody, HIV-1 Antigen/ECLIA Roche) -
Week 6,7,11,18,20 - Negative ( Test Values - 0.9,0.9,0.11 resp)
2. HCV Antibody Test (IgG - ECLIA Roche) - Week 12 Negative (Test Value - 0,0 both times)
3. HBV (HBsAg - ECLIA Roche, HBs - ELISA Siemens, HBc - ECLIA Roche) - Week 12 Negative (Test Value - 0.47, 3.6IU/L, 1.820 resp. both times)
4. Syphilis (Treponema Pallidium IgG/IgM - ECLIA Roche) - Week 18 Negative ( Test Value - 0.6)
So my question regarding the tests are:
1. is Hungary prone to high risk country with respect to HBV, HCV & HIV? I know you are in XXXXXXX but if you have any information about this which you can share with me, then it would be great.
2. As you can see I have done these tests multiple times, but in same lab all times. Does this affect my result in any ways? I mean false negatives.
3. Against each tests i have put the machine type/brand, are these machines accurate and best what we have with current technology?
4. Does receiving unprotected oral sex stands any chance for getting HIV or other STDs.
5. Does my blood sample results influence the STI results in any ways?
I have asked these questions to couple of doctors in different forums & some lab technicians as well. All of them have assured me not be worried and move on. But somehow i am not able to control my anxiety. So just for last time I would like to have your opinion on this complete scenario. It would be really helpful.
Right now i am in 162nd day (23 Weeks) after the possible risk of exposure. Do i need to repeat the tests? I have spent alomost hell of money (approx my one month salary) on these tests, so do you think i still need to repeat these tests?
A prompt answer would be highly apprecited from you.
Thanks & Regards,
XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Lab reports are normal
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
welcome back to HCM,
The values of lab reports are with in normal range and there is no need to worry and this will not have any role in increasing or decreasing the incubation period.
The risk of acquiring HIV, HBS and HCV will be more in people with high risk behavior and it will be equally distributed through out the globe.
As you have tested many times and the results are negative, there is no need to worry but I can understand your concern regarding false negative results but the test kits used for HIV and Hepatitis would have quality control and then only it will be used by the labs.
Roche brand is definitely approved by FDA for testing these infections. As your results are negative for these infections stop worrying about the infections.
Oral sex is not a inherently safe sex. It can transmit a number of different STDs. Although oral sex is a relatively low-risk activity,it is possible to transmit HIV through oral sex. Unprotected oral sex puts you at risk for numerous sexually transmitted diseases.
Your blood tests report are normal and nothing to worry just relax and come out of this anxiety.
Thank you.

Hi Doc,
So this means that I dont have to test anymore?
And my tests results of Wk 20 is conclusive for HIV as well? because for Hep C & B you already stated it to be conclusive.
And you did not answer my question about whether testing in the same lab is OK or not?
As you can see i have tested for syphilis which is one of the common STIs here in Hungary ans it was negative, I also tested for HPV which i did not mention above and that was also negative.
And do i need to worry about any other STI's, i do not have any symptoms like genital ulcers, penal discharge or rashes.
Thanks & Regards,

Thanking you in advance.

Brief Answer:
Testing in the same lab at different time is ok
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
It is my pleasure to answer your query,
As your results are negative with Roche brand in the same lab at different interval of time and it has come negative all the time suggest that there is no need to test in other labs, stop worrying about the infections.
As you have tested for syphilis and HPV which has come negative nothing to worry. Other STDs by this time you would have developed the symptoms of fever, itching, discharge, ulcers and pain.
As you are not having any of these symptoms,I would assure you that you are not having of the aforementioned infections.
Thank you.

No need to worry about STDs and other infections
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome back to Healthcare Magic,
Single ulcer on your tongue may be due to stress and the drugs you have taken and I don't think it is a symptom of STDs.
As you are HPV negative, no need to worry. The PCR test results are accurate and conclusive, because it is a most sensitive and specific tests for HPV.
Hep B and Hep C negative results later turning positive after 20 weeks is very very rare and I have not seen in my practice.
Thank you.
