Question: Attention to DR XXXXXXX XXXXXXX MD

follow up from previous thread:

One combination you mentioned is Cipralex + Paxil both are SSRIs isnt there are danger for seretonin syndrome??

I have tried Cipralex with mirtazapine before but didnt work, tried for over 3 weeks.

Is it possible that i will have more success with Paxil and mirtazapine?

Lexapro is the same as Cipralex, Lexapro is the US brand name for escitalopram and Cipralex is the Brand name we use here in Canada. They are identical. There is Cipralex Meltz but not sure what the difference is aside from delivery method.

Brief Answer:
I have confused cipralex with celexa

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for writing again.

Sorry, I have confused cipralex with celexa. My mistake.

Cipralex and paxil both are SSRIs but it does not result in serotonon syndrome always. I have tried this combination in my patients also. There are chances of serotonin syndrome with pristiq and cipralex combination also. That is why I am asking to take drugs under observation of psychiatrist.

I had given you options because I do not have enough knowledge about your previous drugs. Paxil and mirtazapine can help. The treatment of resistant type of depression is always difficult. You have to be patient for drugs response.

I have already told you I can not give you absolute answer. Whether a Drug will show response or not depends upon the patient and their pharmacodynamics also. Now on your part you can start trying the combinations which suits you best as per your prescribing doctor. I have already told you a psychiatrist would help you best.

Hope I have answered your query. If you do not have further query then close the discussion and rate the answer.
Wish you good health.
