Question: I got a urine test that indicates that my creatinine is 186, I have a history of hypertension and diabetes, am 42, and want to know if this is an emergency

I read your question and i understand your concern. Urinary creatinine of 186 is not even a worrisome issue and not reliable test. Average adult body can excrete upto 1500 mg of creatinine in 24 hours and 20 mg per kg. So no its not an emergency and more reliable test is serum creatinine and urea ratio if we want to assess kidney functions.

urinary creatinines may vary with simple changes like inadequate water intake, dehydration , too much protein intake etc.
