Is A Pain In Hip Be Because Of Fracture?
Recently I have been having extreme short sharp spasms in my groin. I don't have any other pain but I am concerned this could be the beginning of a hip fracture as it is the same type of pain I had years ago when I had my right hip fractured. Those symptoms were felt a long time before my hip actually broke completely.Could my hip still be prone to fracture even with the plate in my upper femur and What else could these spasms be caused from?
Yes, you could still havve a fracture!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you s much for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about this pain that you have reported. With a screw and plate in place, there is still a possibility that you get a fracture. However, we cannot for sure say that this is the case as of now. I will suggest that you get evaluated through a complete clinical exam and follow up with an Xray to check the integrity of this screw and plate as well as the hip bone. This would look at the structure and should there be any concerns, they would be identified and managed accordingly. Spasms can originate from one of the structures in this area be it the muscle, nerves, or ligaments and tendons.
In all, there are still chances that you get a fracture even with plates and screw. To know what the exact cause of this pain is, I will suggest that you get a full evaluation and an xray.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for suing our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
