Is A Small Pus Filled Pimple On The Penis A Symptom Of Herpes?

Question: 25 yrs ago, I married a woman with herpes, Ive never had any symptoms. Recently I developed a pimple-like spot on my penis, small pimple with white head, painful to pop and seems more like a pimple, but I'm worried. Am planning a weekend trip and would like to have sex, please advise.

This will be a one time consult, please advise how to cancel subscription if I decide I dont need monthly access.

Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I am dr.kakkar(dermatologist and venereologist).

I have gone through your query and i have noted your concern. I have reviewed the image. I can see an eroded area on glans.

Clinically this looks and could very well be genital herpes considering that your partner is hsv positive. A blood test for Hsv antibodies would be confirmatory.

I suggest you to take an oral antiviral e.g valacyclovir 1gm twice a day for 5 days. Topically you may use an antibacterial e.g mupirocin or neosporin ointment.
