Is A Spot On The Spleen Suggestive Of Lymphoma?
Question: Hi My husband XXXXXXX was told his white blood cells count is below normal and went for a series of test which I cannot remember except for his bone marrow extraction procedure. He went back to his specialist today and was told they detected a spot on his spleen and must undergo more test to check what it is. Is it usually a sign of Lymphoma? Thanks
Brief Answer:
leukopenia...........
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank for your query.
I read your query. Low white blood cells can be because of infections, bone marrow disorder, radiation therapy and more. Can you sent the reports of bone marrow procedure.
Do your husband have any night sweats, weight loss, loss of appetite, enlarged lymph nodes. It is not appropriate to say that its lymphoma with the information you provided
Lymphoma is diagnosed typically by Lymph node biopsy.
Kindly get back to me if any query.

Hello Doctor! Thank you for your prompt reply. I do not have a copy of my husband's recent bone marrow examination result as I believe it was forwarded to his GP. His medical specialist recommended he should have a biopsy done to find out the true nature of his blood count problem. He went to see his GP today and was to9ld he may have MYELODYSPLASTIC SYNDROME. What is this?
Brief Answer:
myelodysplasia
