Is A Tissue Attached To The Vagina Indicative Of Septate Hymen?
Question: I just returned from the gynecologist as I thought I had a septate hymen. The Gynecologist had a look and also gave me a pap smear (which hurt so so much! ) however he said I did not have a septate hymen, he basically just said my muscles where really strong and tight down there. However I got home and there is a piece of tissue that runs down my vagina hole... its quiet thick, Does everyone have this? When I use tampons, sometimes the tissue strip makes it hard for the tampon to come out and I have to pull the strip to one side to get the tampon out. I really just don't know whats up...
Brief Answer:
it sounds like a septate hymen from history and depiction
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
thanks for the query to hcm,
With the description that you have given especially when you have to manually pull the strip of tissue at the vaginal opening to insert or remove tampon, then it does indicate septate hymen. However the vaginal hymenal opening may be big enough to allow pap smear to be done. I would request you to send pictures of the vagina and hymen to allow better opinion and diagnosis after pictorial examination.
Please send the pictures.
Regards
