Is Absence Of Fetal Pole In A 7 Week Pregnant Woman Normal?

default
Posted on Mon, 30 May 2016
Question: I'm 7 weeks pregnant and had an ultrasound measure at 12mm and it looks like it's empty. No fetal pole was detected. IIs there still hope for me? I have a copy of the ultrasound but I don't know how to upload it.

Brief Answer:
Chnace of missed miscarriage is quite high.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us. Followings are my comments:

1) If your cycle is quite regular and length is 28-30 days, then chance of fetal viability is quite LOW and it will turn into MISSED MISCARRIAGE.

2) If your cycle is irregular, then late conception should be ruled out. In that case, I suggest you to repeat Trans Vaginal Ultrasound scan (TVS) after 7 days to check for viability. Review with report.

Hope, it helps for your information. Wish your good health and take care.
