Is Accidental Consumption Of Citalopram Instead Of An Antihistamine Harmful To Child?
citalopram not dangerous
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for contacting HCM with your health care concerns.
You accidently gave your child citalopram instead of his antihistamine. A single dose of citalopram should not affect your child adversely. I would recommend that you give your child plenty of fluids today. Your child may be more sedated today and don't worry as this would be a result of the medication. If your child begins having redness or a rash then you should take him or her immediately to your local emergency room as this could be an allergic reaction to the medication. It will take 2 to 3 days for the medication to be completely excreted from his/her body.
I hope I answered your question. Please contact HCM again with your health care concerns or questions.
