Is Accidental Overdose Of BP Medicine A Cause For Concern?
Question: I accidentally gave my elderly mother my blood pressure medicine and she had already taken hers this morning
Brief Answer:
Wait and observe
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking
i read your question and i understand your concern. If an extra antihypertensive is given, no worries, if she is already hypertensive and using a pill, one extra wont cause much hypotension. Just keep an eye on her blood pressure, keep checking it every 2 hours for 8 hours and if blood pressure drops less than 80 systolic and 60 diastolic then take her to emergency for some IV fluids or just skip the next dose of the pill. Apart from it nothing to worry about.
I hope it helps. take good care of her and yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

I monitored her pulse and bp throughout the night and morning and it has been averaging 130/50, which is in her normal range. I did not give her the morning bp meds that she normally takes, but since it has been about 20 hours since the mixup, I would like to give her the regular medicines she takes.
She has been drinking water, has no dizziness or any symptoms of fainting. Her pulse has also been running between 68-72

No worries
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back to me
Now that it has been more than 20 hours and a dose skipped with every thing normal including blood pressure , so all is clear and she can continue and resume her medications she was on.
I hope it helps.
