Is Acupuncture Treatment Effective In Managing Nerve Pain?

default
Posted on Mon, 24 Jul 2017
Question: Would you recommend against a nerve wrap to end my nerve pain?
I've had nerve pain in rt thumb and forefinger since 2007. The doctor damaged nerve or nerves when installing an AV Fistula for possible use for Dialysis. I had kidney transplant and never used Fistula so I had it disconnected in 2015 and nerve pain has increased. Tens Unit helps but nothing else I've tried helps.
I haven't tried Acupuncture. Could it help?

Brief Answer:
acupuncture will help

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting the question.
I have gone through your medical history in detail.

It is almost 8-10 years now since the nerve was supposedly damaged. In such cases, treatment options like acupuncture will definitely help and i would suggest you to go for acupuncture settings for atleast 15 days.

Nerve wraps do not help much and should be considered as a last option as they have large number of post-procedure complications.

Even TENS is a good option and if it is helping you, then you can continue using it for few more weeks.

Taking pregabalin, methylcobalamin tablets also can help.

I hope the answer was useful to you.

Feel free to ask me any further doubts that you may have.

Best wishes and regards.
