Is Alcohol Consumption Help With Sporadic Fatal Insomnia?
Alcohol disturbs usual sleep cycle
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your healthcare questions
YOu have been experiencing insomnia and to combat this you have been drink a glass a wine each night. THis may help initially but with repeat use of alcohol your regular sleep cycle becomes fragmented. Alcohol gets you to sleep but does not allow for regular deep sleep or restorative sleep. You are unconscious but not really sleeping. For better sleep there are medications including simple benadryl OTC to help sleep. You doctor can also prescribe medications that are non addicting that allows for better and restorative sleep.
I recommend stopping alcohol and try benadryl. If this does not help see your medical provider for remeron since you have already tried the other medications
I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again for your health care concerns and questions

Sporadic fatal insomnia is extremely rare and there is no known cure. There are only 40 families in the world with it and only about 100 people with the gene mutation. If you truly have sporadic fatal insomnia then I recommend you see a sleep specialist immediately. Drinking alcohol will not change the course of the disease.

Sporadic fatal insomnia is fatal and there is absolutely no treatment.
