Question: My daughter age39 has a shunt due to inter crannial hypertension. She is having seizures which one side of face droops down, eyes roll back, sometimes hand shakes and muscles are rigid. Should shunt be adjusted? She is on gammapenton for seizures. Seizures are constant if she lays down flat.

Brief Answer:
Change antiepileptics, get shunt examined by a neurosurgeon

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.

Get examined by a neurosurgeon for proper functioning of shunt. It should be changed if any malfunction present.

For seizure drugs like Levetiracetam, Valproate, Lacosamide or Oxcarbamazepine can be tried with better results.

Gabapentin can be changed to above drugs.

You can also get a repeat brain imaging and EEG.
Upload any reports if available.

Hope you found the answer helpful.
