Brief Answer:
Recovery depends on the underlying cause.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.

Recovery of jaundice (high bilirubin 12.6) depends on the underlying cause.

However, the most common cause is acute viral hepatitis but the other causes should also be ruled out like obstructive jaundice, gall bladder issues, common bile duct etc by clinical examination and various blood tests (blood counts, liver function tests) with ultrasound.

If those tests are done then please share with me if possible.

Usually,it takes around 8 to 10 days for full recovery with proper medications and dietary restrictions if the underlying cause is acute viral hepatitis.

But before going into further discussion, kindly provide me reports.I will guide you accordingly.

Regards,

Dr.Sandip Kabra
