Is Colonography Feasible Than Barium Enema?
Question: A recent colonoscopy revealed an area at the small bowel, large bowel juncture that my doctor called "fluffy". He tried to get a biopsy but the bowel moved away each time. Can you explain "fluffy?" He has scheduled a barium enema but I am interested in having a ct colonography instead. Is this feasible?
Brief Answer:
Fluffy mucosa or mucus
Detailed Answer:
Hi Thanks for writing in
Fluffy is a non medical term used to describe inflammation of mucosa to the patient
And patients describe mucus associated with IBS as Fluffy mucus.
In any case barium is better diagnostic tool as compared to CT colonography as the interpretation of mucosa is better and time tested with barium apart from the fact that it has less false positive results
Hope this helps
