Is Comatose State From Continuous Seizures Possible When Diagnosed With Epilepsy?

default
Posted on Sat, 5 Dec 2015
Question: My nice suffers from epilepsy since very early age. Today she had a seizure, lost her baby(was pregnant) and doctors in France (where she lives) say that she is in coma in a permanent seizure state. Is this really possible. What would the damage be if she recovers from this state?

status epilepticus

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You are worried about your niece in France who is having continuous seizures. I am sorry to hear about this. She may have permanent brain damage from having continuous seizures. Only time will ell if she will recover. It is way too early to tell exactly what damage if any she will have from her seizures.

Thanks a lot for your very clear answer. Could she die if her condition is prolonged to much?
Thanks again

Brief Answer:
Yes

Detailed Answer:
Unfortunately if she has continued and was unresponsive to medications she could pass away. It likes her brain is getting continued electric shocks that does not stop and the brain can only take so much.
